Improved Blood Flow and Erectile Quality — Botulinum Toxin for Sexual Performance
Penile Botox may be appropriate for men experiencing reduced erectile rigidity or duration, premature ejaculation, or reduced sensitivity — or for men seeking to optimize erectile performance and combine with other sexual wellness treatments.
Botulinum toxin A is injected into the smooth muscle of the penis, temporarily reducing the sympathetic tone of the penile vasculature. This allows greater blood flow into the erectile tissue by reducing the vascular resistance that can limit the quality and duration of erections. Effects are also observed on ejaculatory control and sensitivity. Treatment takes approximately 20–30 minutes with topical anesthesia. Effects begin within 7–14 days and typically last 3–6 months.
Topical anesthesia is applied before treatment to ensure comfort. Mild bruising or swelling is possible and resolves quickly. No sexual activity for 24 hours after treatment. Effects begin within 7–14 days and develop fully over 2–4 weeks. Repeat treatments every 3–6 months as needed.
Penile Botox is well-tolerated and safe. Mild temporary bruising and swelling are the most common effects. Not appropriate for patients with allergy to botulinum toxin, neuromuscular disorders, or aminoglycoside antibiotics.
