In Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, blood plasma is enriched with additional platelets, then injected into targeted locations in the body. PRP acts as an aid to tissue regeneration (healing), and it has gained national attention for its use in sports medicine to repair tendons and other athletic injuries. It is also used in cosmetic surgery and dental procedures; to promote hair growth; for pain management; and elsewhere.

How Does PRP Work?

Before PRP can begin, a small volume of the patient’s whole blood is withdrawn, just as it would be for a normal blood test. This is placed in a centrifuge, which removes the red blood cells from the plasma. This increases the concentration of platelets in the plasma, which is reinjected into the body to induce the release of the body’s natural healing factors. These components are naturally present in your body. What PRP effectively does is “kick-start” your body’s ability to heal itself.

At Evolved Medical we use the latest PRP technology.  This involves the use of PRP plus Acell.  Acell works as a biological scaffold to enhance the effects of the PRP.  Additionally, we add several essential vitamins to the PRP injections to further the success of the procedure.

PRP at Evolved Medical

As with any therapy, the use of PRP depends on the patient’s symptoms and specific causes. If you have suffered certain kinds of injuries or are experiencing androgenic alopecia (i.e., male pattern baldness), PRP could help relieve your symptoms and promote healing. Evolved Medical will first evaluate your symptoms and condition, run tests, make recommendations and prepare an individualized medical plan before any procedure is performed.
